ABOUT DOWNTOWN COLONIAL BEACH

As a Main Street America™ accredited program and an Advancing Virginia Main Street program, Downtown Colonial Beach – DCB -- is part of the national network of nearly 2,000 communities and neighborhoods who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development.  All Main Street America™ accredited programs meet a rigorous set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by Main Street America™.

Colonial Beach's Main Street program was created just a decade ago, and while DCB is rather young in the grand scheme of things, our organization is a solid IRS- recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, governed by a Board of Directors, and working with the Town of Colonial Beach, and Virginia Main Street/Department of Housing and Community Development through signed agreements.  DCB also is registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia State Corporate Commission, and with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and is eligible to receive contributions to support our work through the following mechanisms:

*  Individual and corporate donations;
*  Program sponsorships; and
*  Grants from public and private entities.

Our Vision:  Colonial Beach is a vibrant, welcoming, and sustainable community where people want to visit, live, work, and play. People come for the waterfront charm and stay for the connection with a diverse group of warm, friendly people. The beaches are filled with families relaxing and playing in the surf. Our downtown district is lively and vital while retaining its shared, small-town identity. Colonial Beach is for everyone and is enjoyed by all.

Our Mission:  Downtown Colonial Beach promotes revitalization because we believe our beloved, waterfront town can be even more vibrant and welcoming than it already is. There is a sense of community and connection that bring people here and makes them want to stay. Sharing Colonial Beach with more people means promoting its economic vitality, fostering its cultural riches, and preserving its history for current and future generations.
